The Most In-Demand Property Types in Mill Hill East

Posted on Friday, September 3, 2021

Thanks to ongoing investment into regenerating the area, Mill Hill East has undergone a huge transformation that has encouraged countless property buyers to snap up new and existing properties.

There’s plenty of picturesque countryside to enjoy, with a growing array of amenities and established transport connections. From new developments that offer first-time buyers an opportunity to get onto the property ladder, to gorgeous traditional houses that are perfect for families and retirees, read on to find out why you should keep a close eye on what’s happening in Mill Hill East.

Period homes

As is the case in many parts of the capital, period era homes attract a lot of attention from prospective buyers. Edwardian and Victorian properties are the mainstay in Mill Hill East (with Georgian mansions located in the village) and are somewhat evenly split between large multi-bedroom houses for families and others that have been converted into flats and apartments. If you are a first-time buyer this could be a better fit, but if you work from home or have a growing family, larger houses situated north of The Broadway in Mill Hill could be an option.

Terraced houses

Head over to The Ridgeway and you’ll find a good number of quaint cottages in one of Mill Hill East’s most sought after areas. They offer an ideal balance between countryside living without becoming too distanced from the hustle and bustle of the capital. The old North Middlesex Gas Company site was redeveloped some years ago, with Lidbury Square now home to an exciting mixture of luxury flats, houses and traditional properties.

Detached and semi-detached properties

You’ll find some standout detached period houses situated in quiet country lanes, such as Partingdale Lane, although you should expect to pay between £2-3 million for these large 4-6 bedroom properties. The likes of Albuhera Mews features a number of memorable semi-detached houses, while a little further east Henry Darlot Drive features duplex flats with balconies and terraces.

New Builds

The construction of Millbrook Park on the site of the former Inglis Barracks has created a buzz in the area, with a large portion of the 2,200 new 1-4 bedroom houses and apartments available under the Help to Buy scheme. It’s an ideal chance for first-time buyers to secure high quality housing close by to local parkland and transport hubs.

As part of the development, No.1 Millbrook Park features 1-2 bedroom apartments looking out over the London skyline, while The Claves features 1-4 bedroom homes including an on-site gym. Elsewhere, the Jewish Blind & Disabled charity also plan to develop 30 1-2 bedroom flats specifically designed for blind and disabled people.
