Where to Go and What to Do in Hendon

Posted on Friday, March 23, 2018

Hendon is fast becoming one of the most sought-after suburbs in north London, thanks to its excellent transport links, wide range of properties and excellent schools. Perhaps even more appealingly, there’s also plenty to see and do in the area, with attractions for residents of all ages.

Want to find out more? Here’s a quick guide, detailing the best places to visit.

Great Places to Visit in and around Hendon

Royal Airforce Museum

Located just over a mile away from Hendon, the Royal Airforce Museum is a great place to visit with children, and it’s all undercover, which makes it a good activity for a rainy day. The Museum’s Battle of Britain Hall contains an aircraft that flew in the battle, and there’s also an impressive sound and light show that runs daily.

Hendon Park Café

This is something of a local favourite, and was also the country’s first kosher park cafe. It’s got a great location, and has an excellent range of food; from sushi and shakshuka, to full English breakfasts and smoothies. There’s also a children’s menu, plus seating both indoors and out.

Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre

The Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre has three separate swimming pools; a good-sized main pool, learning pool, plus a pool for activities. There are plenty of classes running throughout the week, from swimming lessons for kids to exercise sessions for adults; and there’s also an on-site gym for those looking for a workout.

Metro Golf Centre

If you like golf regardless of ability then the Metro Golf Centre will have what you’re looking for. There’s a 9-hole pitch and putt golf course, a 250 yard floodlit driving range, a 9-hole adventure golf course, a golf shop and even an Italian restaurant!

Wembley Stadium tour

If you’ve got a football obsessive in the family, a tour of the country’s most famous stadium is an absolute must. As part of the experience, you get to see inside the dressing rooms, visit the exclusive warm-up zone and walk through the tunnel out on to the famous pitch itself. The tour lasts 75 minutes in total, and there’s plenty of time to take photos as you go.

Pizaza

Pizaza, with its great range of homemade pizzas, is ideal for Hendon residents enjoying a night out. Situated on Brent Street, diners can also enjoy starters, salads, pastas, plus an impressive array of milkshakes. There’s also a children’s menu, making it a great place to take the kids at the weekend or for an after school treat.

Golders Hill Park

When the sun’s out, there’s no better place to be than Golders Hill Park, which is just a few miles from Hendon. There’s plenty of green space to relax in, plus a butterfly house, kid’s play area, a small deer park, plus a little zoo. Best of all, it’s all free, and you’re welcome to stay as long as you like. During peak season, the Italian restaurant in the park opens for service (with ice-creams) and children’s activities run on a regular basis.

The Claddagh Ring

This atmospheric late-night bar on Church Road is the perfect place to spend an evening, with vibrant weekend nightlife, regular special offers on drinks, plus an extensive menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There’s live music to enjoy too, on selected nights.
