It's no surprise that as both company directors and most staff members were both born and live in North London and Hertfordshire, and with our four branches covering much of this area, we are highly passionate and proud of our community.
Therefore as part of our commitment to being a socially responsible company we are members of an Employee Volunteer Programme which aims to aid and support local community projects and schemes.
We are currently supporting Belmont Children's Farm in Mill Hill, whose mission is to provide access to the countryside and experience daily farm life in a natural, exciting and safe manner.
Providing over 100 hours of hands-on support, the transformational power of volunteering is extremely rewarding, not just for the scheme but also for our staff. It's both motivating and inspiring, and we look forward to continuing to commit to other projects in the future.
We’ve been sponsoring Manorside Primary School for 10 years now and take great delight in supporting the efforts of their PTA, not to mention their fund-raising events. Each year we sponsor the Summer Fair (an International Food Fair); providing a financial donation plus supplying the main raffle prize and baking Squires-themed cupcakes. We also assist with advertising and promoting the event to the local community.
The street party was another key event we were involved in; a fantastic occasion that celebrated the recent road changes which made the area far safer for students.
Millbrook Park Primary School has been open since 2015 and since 2016 we have been sponsoring their Summer Fete; not only helping them to advertise the event (and get as many people to attend as possible) but also supplying the star prize in the raffle.
We have also supplied a parasol for their popular ice cream stall and sponsor their Christmas Bazaar.
We were delighted to start supporting Yavneh Primary School in 2016 and to date have sponsored several events including a Chanukah Party, a 10-year anniversary Gala Dinner, a movie screening (with 200 people in attendance), the end of year school disco, and a supper quiz where over £4,550 was raised – providing valuable funds for the new school playground.
The Maccabi GB Community Fun Run is the largest Jewish, sporting, fundraising event in the UK which engages over 80 Jewish charities and schools and brings together over 6,000 members of the community. The event promotes a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing and aims for all members to be active whilst fundraising for their chosen charity and having a fun, family day out.
Since its launch in 2007 it has become an integral part of the Jewish calendar and in the 11 years of the event, over £1.8 million has been raised for the charities engaged.
Squires Estates has sponsored the T-shirts since 2015 meaning we have supplied the T-shirts for the event and recently also provided sweatbands for the participants.
